Pawnbroker
Overview
Pawnbroker means a person who loans money on deposit or pledge of personal property or other valuable thing, who deals in the purchasing of personal property or other valuable thing on condition of selling the property back again at a stipulated price, or who loans money secured by chattel mortgage on personal property, taking possession of the property or any part thereof so mortgaged.

See Chapter 14-726 – Chapter 14-738 of the City of Maplewood code for information on pawnbrokers.

Application Requirements
You must submit the following:

     - Pawnbroker license application.
     - Bond in the sum of $2,000.00 with a duly licensed surety company.
     - Required license fee.

Approvals
The license application submitted under this subdivision shall be submitted to the Police Department and City Council for approval.

Expiration/Renewal
The annual Pawnbrokers license expires December 31 of each year and may be renewed at that time.
