Overview
The purpose of this division is to establish standards to protect the health, safety and the general welfare of the people of the city. These general objectives include the following:
- Prevent food-borne illness.
- Correct and prevent conditions that may adversely affect persons utilizing food
establishments.
- Provide minimum standards for the design, contraction, operation and
maintenance of food establishments.
- Meet consumer expectations to the quality and safety of food establishments.
Code RequirementsSee Chapter 14-316 – Chapter 14-352 of the
City of Maplewood code for information on food and food handlers.
Application RequirementsYou must submit the following:

Food Establishment license application.
- Certificate of occupancy is required for the conduct of activities for which a food
establishment license is required. The license shall not be valid until the certificate
has been issued by the City of Maplewood building official.
- Required license fee.
InspectionsThe license application submitted under this subdivision shall be submitted to the environmental health official for review and comment. The environmental health official shall recommend approval or disapproval of the application and, when recommending disapproval, furnish in writing their reasons therefore.
Expiration/RenewalThe annual Food Establishment license expires February 28 (29 leap year) of each year and may be renewed at that time.
