Mayer Arts Dance Classes at the Maplewood Community Center
The mission of Mayer Arts is to not only provide training for those who are serious about learning, but also to offer classes that are tons of fun! We teach proper technique, terminology, body awareness, and appreciation for the arts. Our goal is that students will not only find a love for the arts but also build healthy habits and self-esteem. Skills that will be helpful to them for the rest of their lives!

Spring Dance Classes with Mayer Arts

Come be a part of our spring show!  Each class will perform a dance from or inspired by the "Pirate Fairy".  

Sign up by JANUARY 17 and receive a FREE fairy wand or pirate hat on the first day of class.

Pre Ballet and Tap (Ages 3-5)
SATURDAYS, JANUARY 31 - MAY 9, 
9:30AM -10:15AM or 10:15AM -11:00AM, (No class April 4)

This class includes the Wish Upon a Ballet curriculum with the added fun of tap! An introduction to the movements and vocabulary of these disciplines are taught with the help of musical instruments, parachutes and scarves. Students will develop poise, strength and flexibility. Ballet and tap shoes are required. Cost is $140.00* ($130.00 for MCC members).

Wish Upon a Ballet (Ages 3-5)
SATURDAYS, JANUARY 31 - MAY 9

MONDAYS, JANUARY 26 - MAY 11
5:15PM - 6:00PM (No class February 2 , March 30)

Wish Upon a Ballet is a dance program for children that incorporates popular children’s stories as well as ballet stories to create a dance class that is more than ballet steps. Using musical instruments, parachutes and scarves we will create a complete fairy tale experience while we skip, leap, jump and spin. This way an introduction to the movements and vocabulary of ballet are taught in a fun and creative manner. Children will learn an appreciation of dance and music while developing strength and flexibility. Parents, family and friends will be invited to observe a special performance at the end of each session. Come join the fun! Girls and boys will need ballet shoes. Girls should wear a leotard and tights. Boys should wear comfortable clothes they can move around in. Cost is $140.00* ($130.00 for MCC members).

Ballet and Tap (Ages 6-9)
SATURDAYS, JANUARY 31 - MAY 9, 
11:45AM - 12:45PM (No class April 4)

We can’t stop the beat! Young dancers will float and leap in ballet and then jump and jive to fun songs while learning about tap. An introduction to the movements and vocabulary of these disciplines are taught with the help of musical instruments, parachutes and scarves. Students will develop poise, strength and flexibility. Ballet and tap shoes are required. Cost is $150.00* ($140.00 for MCC members).

Hip Hop and Tap (Ages 5-8)
MONDAYS, JANUARY 26 - MAY 11,
6:00PM - 7:00PM (No class February 2, March 30)

Growing dancers will experience the upbeat and energetic style of hip hop as well as the exciting rhythms of tap. Proper terms for dance steps will be taught as well as body awareness to improve posture, strength and flexibility. Students will gain poise and confidence as they leap and spin! Ballet and tap shoes are required. Cost is $150.00* ($140.00 for MCC members).

Hip Hop (Ages 8-12)
MONDAYS, JANUARY 26 - MAY 11, 
7:00PM - 8:00PM (No class February 2, March 30)

Get into the Groove! Our Hip Hop Classes will be sure to keep students active. The students will learn warm-ups such as stretching, isolations and across the floor exercises as well as dances to their favorite songs! Come learn to leap, turn and shine. This class is not only fun but will improve posture, strength and flexibility in a positive and self-esteem building atmosphere. Ballet or jazz shoes are required. Cost is $150.00* ($140.00 for MCC members).


*Registration fee does not include the costume fee for recital.
